We generally craft because of the promise that it will give us an advantage but it almost never does, by the time we have gotten to the point where we can realize the advantage we have already surpassed it with loot or gear or other-stuff.
As a vague example, in ProjectLD, by the time you have gotten to the point where you can make a blue level45 weapon with weapon making or blacksmithing, you will have already spent more gold than any level 45 is supposed to have and you will need to have visited level 50s zones to get the necessary materials. By no means do we want to work gathering mats and building things just to sell them. Based on the crafting systems we have seen, we will not miss crafting at all in any game that doesn't have it.
In the long run it is much cheaper to just buy the weapon in the AH from some level80 trying to make projectld gold off of the skill. Most of the ProjectLD crafting skills are most useful for twinks, actually. We noticed the same trend in other games.
